Around fifty automobiles have been covered with what appears to be human blood in the Germany's municipality of Hanau near Frankfurt, according to police.
Vehicles, building surfaces and postal boxes were marked, occasionally with Nazi symbols, they reported in a statement.
Law enforcement state they were alerted in the late hours on Wednesday, when a individual discovered that a automobile in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been smeared with a reddish-hued fluid.
The substance had been applied in the form of a banned symbol, they added.
Police then discovered many other marked vehicles and house walls in the nearby vicinity.
Swastikas are banned in Germany under legislation prohibiting the public display of Nazi-era symbols.
Law enforcement say preliminary tests indicate the liquid was likely human blood.
"At present there remains no lead as to its origin; officials are currently not informed of any harm in relation with the event," they added.
Municipal representatives stated they were attempting "to resolve the incident" and have requested to the public for tips.
A high-ranking political figure stated the vandalism left him speechless and required to be solved rapidly.
"This act hits the core of Hanau and revives the trauma of the extremist terrorist attack in 2020," he posted on a platform, referring to the murder of nine people by a shooter aiming at people of foreign heritage in 2020.
